I accepted Christ as my savior at the early age of four. God sent many mentors into my life to help me grow into a Christian man who enjoys serving as an educator. I was nurtured by my parents who loved Jesus and centered our family life on pleasing him. Growing up in a local church, other adults also helped me discover God’s will for my life.
Jobs also have helped shape my views on life and ministry. Delivering newspapers early in the morning before school, selling books from door-to door, factory work, rural and urban planning, teaching elementary school, and serving as a youth minister are some of the jobs that have shaped me as an educator.
I first learned about theological education by extension while I was teaching in Belize. Later, at Denver Seminary in the USA, I learned how TEE was helping church leaders around the world get the theological education they needed to lead their churches without needing to move or quit their jobs. My mentors also taught me the basics for writing self-study courses for TEE.
My wife, Robin, and I moved to Jordan in 1979. In 1980 1 began working with the Arab church leaders that established the Program for Theological Education by Extension (PTEE). In 1985 was appointed PTEE Executive Director and served in that role until 2013. During those years, the PTEE continued to grow and gained accreditation from the Asia Theological Association and the Middle East and North Africa Association for Theological Education.
In 2017 my wife and I moved back to the United States and retired in 2018. We continue to give regularly to the PTEE.
